Ingredients

  • ¾ cup 98g all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup 57g unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ¼ tsp + ⅛ tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ¾ cup 180ml vegetable oil
  • 1 ½ cups 310g granulated sugar
  • 1 ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 large eggs

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×9-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper, leaving a little overhang on the sides. This makes it easier to lift the brownies out later without breaking them.
  2. In a bowl, mix the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Make sure everything is evenly combined so the brownies bake with a smooth texture and rich chocolate flavor. Set this aside.
  3. In another large bowl, mix the oil, sugar, and vanilla extract until the mixture looks smooth and well blended. Honestly, this step helps create that soft and fudgy base.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Keep mixing until the batter becomes smooth and slightly glossy, which helps give the brownies structure while keeping them soft.
  5. Now add the dry ingredients into the wet mixture. Mix gently until just combined. Trust me, don’t overmix here, because that can make the brownies dense instead of soft and fudgy.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread it evenly using a spatula. Make sure the surface is level so the brownies bake evenly from all sides.
  7. Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs. Avoid overbaking, as the brownies will continue to set while cooling.
  8. Let the brownies cool completely in the pan before removing them. Once cooled, lift them out using the parchment paper and cut into neat squares. This helps you get clean slices and the perfect texture.

Notes

For best results, measure ingredients accurately and keep an eye on baking time. Slightly underbaking gives you that perfect fudgy center, while overbaking can make them dry.
