Soft & Fluffy Cinnamon Rolls

These homemade cinnamon rolls are soft, fluffy, and filled with a rich cinnamon sugar filling, topped with a creamy glaze. An easy bakery-style recipe that’s perfect for breakfast or a sweet treat anytime.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 5 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 4⅔ cups all-purpose flour plus extra for dusting
  • cup light brown sugar
  • ½ cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 large egg room temperature
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • teaspoons salt
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
For the Filling
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter softened
  • ½ cup light brown sugar
  • tablespoons cinnamon
For the Glaze
  • 4 ounces cream cheese softened
  • 2 tablespoons butter softened
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 –2 tablespoons milk as needed

Method
 

  1. In a bowl, mix warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add flour, butter, egg, vanilla, salt, and cinnamon. Knead until smooth (8–10 minutes).
  3. Place dough in a bowl, cover, and let rise for 1½–2 hours until doubled.
  4. Roll dough into a 12×24-inch rectangle on a floured surface.
  5. Spread softened butter over the dough. Sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon.
  6. Roll tightly into a log and cut into 12 equal pieces.
  7. Place rolls in a greased baking dish and let rise again for about 1 hour.
  8. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 20–25 minutes until lightly golden.
  9. Mix glaze ingredients until smooth and creamy.
  10. Spread glaze over warm rolls and serve.

Notes

  • Store at room temperature for 2 days or refrigerate for up to 5 days.
  • Freeze for up to 2 months for longer storage.
  • Warm before serving for the best taste and texture.
